Obituaries

Langdon Brian Plaster, 57, of Fieldale, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 13, 2024. He was born on August 27, 1967, in Martinsville, Virginia to Woodrow (Frank) Plaster and Violet Hubbard Plaster. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Woodrow and Dessa Plaster and Ralph and Iva Hubbard, and his beloved fiancé Tammy Foster.

Langdon graduated from Bassett High School and Radford University. He was an archeologist by profession and loved doing this work until health issues caused him to be disabled. He was a friendly fellow who loved people and could always talk to almost anyone about almost anything. He loved the fact that he was able to live at the home built by his Hubbard grandfather where he could appreciate the wildlife and nature surrounding him. He enjoyed gaming with his friends and watching old movies that were so bad they were funny and entertaining. He kept in touch with a wide group of friends both locally and across the country. He always looked forward to dinners with the “Sci-Fi Club” when he was able to attend. He loved hanging out with his fur babies Hana and Mazzy who provided comfort and companionship. He was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, and his faith helped him to face his many health crises with a positive attitude, a great sense of humor, and strength and courage that have been an inspiration to many.

In addition to his parents, Langdon is survived by close friend and brother Kevin and sister-in-law, Courtney Plaster, and very special nieces, Eve and Zoe Plaster. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and special friends, Duane Edmonds, Mike Mullins, and Brian Robinson, who have helped him so much with rides to appointments and moral support during his many health issues.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 12:00 noon at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Clyde DeLoach officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Foster Family Cemetery at 1218 Egg Farm Road, Patrick Springs, VA 24133.

The pallbearers in the service will include Jason Bryant, Kevin Plaster, Travis Surber, Jesse LePlante, Steve Isley, Brian Robinson, Danny Chilton, and Tony Chilton.

Anyone wishing to donate in lieu of flowers may send it to Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, at 93 Mt. Bethel Church Circle, Martinsville, VA 24112.
