Traffic stop yields drugs, two arrests

On April 17, 2025, at approximately 2:20 p.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Drug Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Crestridge Road Bassett. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Darian Rayburn TATUM, 51 years of age, of Critz, VA who was found to have an outstanding warrant from the City of Martinsville for Violation of Virginia code section 18.2-251 –Substitution of Sample to Defeat Drug or Alcohol Screening Test.

The passenger of the vehicle initially provided false identification but was later identified as Stacey Rea BIGGS, 31 years age, of Critz, VA who was wanted out of Patrick County for Violation of Virginia code section 18.2-456 – Failure to Appear and out of Henry County for Violation of Virginia code section 18.2-248 – Third or Subsequent Offense of Selling a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance.

Henry County Sheriffs Office, K-9 Zajo, was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a SCCY, 9mm handgun, numerous bags containing suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl, digital scales, packaging materials, and $913.00 in U.S. currency. The suspected narcotics will be sent to the Virginia Department of Forensic Science Laboratory for further analysis.

As a result of the investigation, the following additional charges have been filed:

TATUM has been charged with: Driving while license revoked, possession of schedule I/II drugs while possessing a firearm, possession with intent to distribute schedule I/II drugs, possession of a firearm by a non-violent felon, possession of a concealed weapon by a felon.

BIGGS has been charged with: Possession with intent to distribute schedule I/II drugs, false identity to law enforcement.

Both individuals were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Henry County Adult Detention Center where they are incarcerated without bond.
