Lady Gaga to appear in second season of Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’
It seems like forever ago that we were all obsessing about the Netflix series Wednesday, but filming for season 2 is underway, and according to Variety and Entertainment Weekly, none other than Lady Gaga will be making an appearance.
Her inclusion in the show isn’t random, though. In 2022, Gaga’s 2011 song “Bloody Mary” went viral on TikTok during season 1 of the Addams Family spin-off after fans sped it up and used it to soundtrack footage of Jenna Ortega, as Wednesday, doing her now-iconic dance.
The song, from Gaga’s Born This Way album, was never released as a single, but once the song took off online, it shot to #10 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart. Gaga even made her own TikTokdoing the dance.
According to Variety, the show is currently filming in Ireland, and Gaga’s role — which is currently unknown — will be a cameo. Sources tell the publication they wanted her to play a larger role, but they couldn’t work out the scheduling.
This won’t be the first time Gaga’s done TV: She appeared in season 5 of American Horror Story and even won a Golden Globe for it.
Well, it looks like Kathy Bates isn’t retiring after Matlock after all.
Bates stopped by ABC’s On the Red Carpet show before Sunday night’s 76th Emmy Awards, where she threw cold water on a New York Times story that Madeline Matlock in the forthcoming CBS reboot would be her final role.
As much as she said she was “flattered” that the retirement report “went around the globe,” Bates told ABC’s George Pennacchio that she was “misunderstood.”
“I think it was misunderstood because I … had one foot out the door until I read Jennie [Snyder] Urman‘s script and I was like, ‘OK, now we’re talking. And I want the show [Matlock] to run for years and years,” she said.
The original series of Matlock ran from 1986 to 1995, starring Andy Griffith as a defense lawyer named Benjamin Matlock.
The reboot show will chronicle Bates’ character, who rejoins the law workforce as a senior, scoring legal victories in courtrooms. In the interview with the New York Times to discuss the show, she said she felt like she was called to do the role, especially after experiencing some injustices in the early days of her career.
“Everything I’ve prayed for, worked for, clawed my way up for, I am suddenly able to be asked to use all of it,” she said at the time. “And it’s exhausting.”
Despite her success, when reflecting on her acting career, she only recalled some of the blunders, telling the New York Times, “I never felt dressed right or well.”
“I felt like a misfit,” she said. “It’s that line in Misery when Annie says, ‘I’m not a movie star.’ I’m not.”
Her comments notwithstanding, a source told ABC News on Monday that “it is understood that Bates changed her mind [about retiring] after doing Matlock.”
Matlock will premiere on CBS Sept. 22 and will be available to stream on Paramount+.
After a challenging week, things heated up on The Golden Bachelorette.
Joan Vassos had a hilarious group date that allowed some of the men to show off their moves while she also began to grow her connections with others.
“I solidified some connections with some of the guys and I get more and more hopeful every week,” she said.
Jonathan, Pascal, Dan, Charles L., Gary, Mark, Gil, Chock and Keith were chosen for the group date and were given a lesson by some of the original Chippendale members on how to body roll and more.
They each then took the stage to show off their moves for Vassos and to raise money for Stand Up to Cancer, an organization that fights cancer through collaborative research and fair access to care.
After their performance, each of the men got some time with Vassos, including Chock, whose connection with her has grown since their one-on-one date at Disneyland. At the end of their date, Vassos gave Chock the group date rose because she said she continues “to see a future” with him.
Following the group date, Chock received the heartbreaking news at home that his mother died and decided to leave the mansion to be with his family.
After Chock departed the mansion, Vassos set out on her date with Jordan. The duo went ice skating and Jordan got a rose at the end of their date.
On her one-on-one date with Guy, Vassos opted to get to know him more over cooking lemon baked ziti at her house. After their date, Vassos gave him a rose and said she can picture Guy in her life.
Prior to the rose ceremony, Vassos had one-on-one time with each of the men. And while she shared meaningful moments with all of them, she was over the moon when Chock returned to the mansion.
Chock told Vassos that he was “crazy” about her and “had to come back” to see her.
At the end of the night, Vassos said goodbye to Charles L., Gary, Dan and Gil. Here are the men that remain:

On Sept. 26 — or Outbreak Day, as fans of the post-apocalyptic game know it — HBO debuted the second-season trailer to its video game adaptation The Last of Us.
One of its new cast additions, Catherine O’Hara,is featured prominently, apparently conducting a therapy session with one of the show’s main protagonists, Pedro Pascal‘s Joel. “Let’s try something different,” she advises in voice-over. “You can’t heal something unless you’re brave enough to say it out loud.”
Music plays a big part in the trailer, particularly Pearl Jam‘s 2013 track “Future Days,” which Joel plays for Ellie in The Last of Us Part II, the video game’s hit sequel.
And while the trailer begins with a respite from the show’s zombie outbreak, things pick up considerably by its end, with a horde of zombies rushing a fence, which collapses under their weight, leaving Kaitlyn Dever‘s Abby Anderson crawling on her hands and knees to escape.
The trailer also gives a glimpse of another new cast member, Oscar-nominated American Fiction actor Jeffrey Wright, reprising his role as Isaac, the former Marine-turned-resistance group leader that he played in the game.
Season 2’s cast also includes Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Spencer Lord as Owen and Danny Ramirez as Manny.
