Dancing with the Stars is approaching its 500th episode and the show is celebrating the milestone in a big way.

The show will kick off with a dance number to “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé featuring Jay-Z, which will be choreographed by Pasha Pashkov and Daniella Karagach.

The dance number will be a nod to the first episode of the show, which aired in 2005 and opened with a dance to “Crazy in Love,” according to a press release for the upcoming episode.

Familiar faces from over the years will also return to the ballroom, the press release stated.

Carrie Ann Inaba, who has been a judge on DWTS since the show first premiered, spoke about the forthcoming 500th episode during a Nov. 4 appearance on Good Morning America.

“It just feels like it keeps getting better and better, and that’s such an honor — especially after so many seasons. Thirty-three?!” she gushed.

Inaba praised the “new vibe” of the show in its current form, which features her alongside her fellow original judge Bruno Tonioli and fan-favorite pro-turned-judge Derek Hough on the judging panel and Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro as co-hosts.

Will the judges dance during the 500th episode? “[That’s] the big question,” Inaba teased. “You’ll have to tune in to see that.”

In addition to the big celebration, the season’s remaining couples will perform dance numbers paying tribute to past memorable dances.

The couples will also take part in the Instant Dance Challenge during a second round dance on the show, where they won’t know the style or the song until five minutes before performing it live.

The 500th episode will air on Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. ET and simulcast live across both ABC and Disney+ in local time zones and the next day on Hulu.

James Van Der Beek shared that he has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

The Dawson’s Creek star posted a statement about his health update on Instagram on Nov. 3 after first revealing the news to People. 

“‘It is cancer…’ Each year, approximately 2 billion people around the world receive this diagnosis,” he wrote. “And I’m one of them.”

“There’s no playbook for how announce these things, but I’d planned on talking about it at length with People magazine at some point soon … to raise awareness and tell my story on my own terms,” he continued. “But that plan had to be altered early this morning when I was informed that a tabloid was going to run with the news.”

Van Der Beek wrote he has “been dealing with this privately until now, getting treatment and dialing in my overall health with greater focus than ever before.”

Despite the health update, he shared that he feels hopeful about the future and apologized to those in his life who learned the news from the press.

“I’m in a good place and feeling strong,” he wrote. “It’s been quite the initiation, and I’ll tell you more when I’m ready. Apologies to all the people in my life who I’d planned on telling myself. Nothing about this process has occurred on my preferred timeline. … But we roll with it, taking each surprise as a signpost, pointing us toward a greater destiny than we would have discovered without divine intervention.”

“Please know that my family and I deeply appreciate all the love and support,” he concluded. “More to come.”

Van Der Beek and his wife Kimberly have six children.

Tom Cruise is in early talks to star in a sequel to his 1990 film Days of Thunder, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “He’s talking [to Paramount] about Top Gun and Days of Thunder,” a source tells the outlet. “It’s going to be what comes together first in terms of a script. It depends on the idea and, ultimately, the script.” The NASCAR drama starred Cruise as Cole Trickle, a young hot-shot stock car driver who gets his chance to compete at the top level. Alan Rachins, best known for playing Douglas Brackman Jr. on L.A. Law, the EV series co-created by his late younger brother Steven Bochco, and the father of Jenna Elfman’s character on Dharma & Greg, died died in his sleep of heart failure Saturday, Nov. 2 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Cente in Los Angeles, his wife, actress Joanna Frank, tells The Hollywood Reporter. Quincy Jones, a longtime music industry powerhouse and hitmaking producer of multi-platinum albums, including Michael Jackson‘s Thriller, the best-selling album of all time, died on Sunday. He was 91.

His death was announced by his publicist, Arnold Robinson, who said Jones died at his home in Bel Air, California. Jones was surrounded by his family, including his children and siblings, at the time of his death, the announcement said.

“And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him,” the family said in a statement.

During his decades-long career, Jones was nominated for 80 Grammy Awards, of which he won 28. He was the all-time most-nominated composer and producer, his publicist said on Monday.

His was a career punctuated often by chart-topping hits, many of which were also critical successes. He produced albums for Michael Jackson, including Off the Wall, Bad and Thriller, which ranks as the best-selling album of all time.

Quincy was a seasoned producer by the time Thriller came out in 1982. He had won his first Grammy in 1963 for an arrangement of “I Can’t Stop Loving You” by Count Basie.

He then partnered with Frank Sinatra for Sinatra at the Sands, an album that included “Fly Me to the Moon.” Jones’ publicist noted on Monday that that version of the song was the “the first recording played by astronaut Buzz Aldrin when he landed upon the moon’s surface in 1969.”

He also produced and conducted “We Are the World,” which brought together pop luminaries of all ages and became the best-selling single of all time.

Jones was often referred to as entertainment royalty — and it would be difficult to overstate the breadth of his career or the depth of his influence on popular culture. He had begun his career as a composer and become a music producer. And he would eventually also make his mark on Hollywood.

He was a co-producer with Steven Spielberg on The Color Purple, a 1985 film staring Oprah Winfrey, Danny Glover and Whoopi Goldberg. That film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, including two nominations for Jones’ original song and score.

He also served as executive producer on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, the TV series staring Will Smith that premiered in 1990. Jones also founded VIBE Magazine in 1991.

Jones’ family said on Monday that Jones was “truly one of a kind,” adding that “we take comfort and immense pride in knowing that the love and joy, that were the essence of his being, was shared with the world through all that he created.”

They added, “Through his music and his boundless love, Quincy Jones’ heart will beat for eternity.”

Venom: The Last Dance topped the North American box office for the second straight week, delivering an estimated $26.1 million and bringing its two-week total to $90 million.

The third and final film in the Venom franchise added an estimated $68.4 million overseas, for a global tally of $317 million.

Second place went to The Wild Robot, earning an estimated $7.6 million. Its six-week domestic tally now stands at $121.5 million and $269.1 million globally in its sixth week of release.

Smile 2 took third place, collecting an estimated $6.8 million in its third week of release. The animated sequel’s domestic haul currently stands at $52.7 million and $109.8 million globally.

Conclave came in fourth with an estimated $5.3 million, bringing its North American gross to $15.2 million.

Rounding out the top five was Here, which marked the reunion of Tom Hanks, Robin Wright and director Robert Zemeckis, the team behind the 1994 box office smash Forrest Gump. However, the results were disappointing this time out. The drama only managed to deliver an estimated $5 million at the domestic box office in its opening weekend.

Eddie Murphy has reportedly signed on to play a funk music icon on screen.

Variety reports that the actor/comedian is set to star as Parliament-Funkadelic leader George Clinton in a biopic directed by Bill Condon, the same director who directed Murphy in Dreamgirls, a role that earned him an Oscar nomination.

The film, which Murphy will also produce, will be based on Clinton’s 2014 memoir Brothas Be, Yo Like George, Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You?

Clinton, who launched his funk career in the ’70s as one of the founding members of the collective known as Parliament-Funkadelic, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. He and the band were also honored in 2019 with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

‘Tis the season: ABC has revealed its slate of holiday programming.

Specials on the holiday schedule include The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular on Dec. 1,  CMA Country Christmas on Dec. 3, and The Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade on Dec. 25.

On Dec. 4, Abbott Elementary airs a one-hour holiday special starting at 8 p.m. ET, and on Dec. 5, the new season of The Great Christmas Light Fight debuts at 8 p.m. ET. There will also be holiday-themed episodes of Press Your Luck, Celebrity Family Feud and Shark Tank, as well as special airings of The Sound of Music, Home Alone and The Santa Clause.

Additional programming includes ABC News’ celebration of the 60th anniversary of Mary Poppins with The Untold Story of Mary Poppins: A Special Edition of 20/20 on Nov. 27, followed by The Wonderful World of Disney presents Mary Poppins, airing the next day.

Netflix has released its first look at Barry Keoghan in the new Peaky Blinders movie.

The photo features Keoghan’s character sporting the signature Peaky Blinders cap as he leans out the window of a truck. Details of his character have not yet been revealed.

Production is currently underway on the film in the U.K., with Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby. Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Roth are also joining the cast. 

Netflix teases the film will be the “epic continuation of the multi-award-winning, six-season gangster saga,” which ran from 2013 to 2022.

Show creator — and the movie’s writer — Steven Knight previously called it “an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story,” adding, “No holds barred. Full on Peaky Blinders at war.”

The film is said to take place during the World War II period.

Jude Law leads a ragtag group of kids in the action-packed new trailer for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

The new clip, released Friday, features Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), KB (Kyriana Kratter) and Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) as four friends who find a mysterious old starship and inadvertently get lost in the dangerous galaxy.

Law’s mysterious character, Jod, offers to help the kids get back home — which is helpful since they face the likes of “a crew of murderous pirates” and strange, and quite large, creatures.

According to the series’ synopsis, the children will meet “unlikely allies and enemies” on “a greater adventure than they ever imagined.”

Also in the cast are Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon and Nick Frost as SM-33.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew premieres with two episodes on Dec. 3, streaming on Disney+.
