Two men arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

On Tuesday, June 4th, deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop near the 1800 block of Virginia Ave. in Henry County. The vehicle was occupied by two male subjects. During the traffic stop, a Narcotics K9 alerted to narcotics inside the vehicle. Both subjects were detained, and the vehicle was subsequently searched.

During the search of the vehicle, pre-packaged bags of methamphetamine and fentanyl were located along with multiple items consistent with the distribution of narcotics.

The passenger of the vehicle, Justin Mitchell Harris, 31, of Poteat Drive, Ridgeway, Virginia, was arrested for the following charges and held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.

  • Possession of Schedule I or II Drug with the intent to distribute (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Schedule I or II Drug with the intent to distribute (Fentanyl)

The driver of the vehicle, Zachary Edward Hager, 38, of Spencer Preston Road, Martinsville, Virginia, was arrested for the following charges and is currently held with a $5000.00 secured bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.

  • Possession of Schedule I or II Drug (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Schedule I or II Drug (Fentanyl)

Justin Mitchell Harris is currently on probation for the Distribution of Sch I/II narcotics and was released from the Department of Corrections in April 2024, prior to this recent arrest.

Zachary Edward Hager is currently on probation for possession of fentanyl prior to this arrest.
