Microporous on schedule

Microporous on schedule

UPDATE:

Company officials with Microporous, the battery company that’s coming to Pittsylvania County, said they are still on schedule despite the delay in $100 million in federal funding. U.S. Senator Mark Warner said last week he was frustrated that the Trump administration was holding promised funding under the Biden administration to half a dozen projects like Microporous in the state and 300 like it in the country.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Microporous announced plans to invest $1.35 billion and create 2,000 jobs at the Berry Hill industrial site in neighboring Pittsylvania County. A $100 million federal grant approved under the Biden administration was a significant factor in the location, but when the Trump administration took over, the money has appeared to be put on hold. Senator Mark Warner says he’s both worried and frustrated.
