Da’Vinchi talks Meech and Terry’s relationship in season 4 of ‘BMF’: The womb to the tomb ‘is slowly dying’

Starz

Meech and Terry’s womb to the tomb mantra is no more in season four of BMF. Da’Vinchi, who portrays Terry Flenory, drug trafficker and co-founder of the Black Mafia Family crime organization, says the tension between the brothers continues as they expand the Flenory drug empire.

“I think [their relationship] is slowly dying because, you know, more money, more problems, more responsibility and certain things as people are in your ears,” he explains, adding they have varying approaches to conducting business.

Following their trip to Mexico to establish direct links with the Mexican drug cartels, Da’Vinchi says Terry also noticed the spiritual differences between them. In this fourth season, he says his character grapples with faith as he engages in crimes that conflict with his spiritual and moral compass.

“[Terry] just wants to just be able to just finish this and get out this game for good and use the money and do pretty different things, but it’s the thing that keeps pouring back,” Da’Vinchi explains.

With the spiritual battles and constant issues with Meech, Da’Vinchi says Terry’s happy medium is to break out and go about things his own way.

“Terry just wants us to run in a way that [business is] flying under the radar,” he says, comparing it to Meech’s flashy approach. He adds T “just want[s] to make enough money…to live regular lives and live the American dream” all while avoiding attention from cops who know they’ve never had a 9 to 5 job.

Season 4 of BMF is now available to watch on the STARZ app. The show airs on the STARZ linear platform on Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT in the U.S. and Canada.

Ashley Tisdale on returning to Candace for ‘Phineas and Ferb’ season 5

ABC/Heidi Gutman

There’s another 104 days of summer vacation with brand-new episodes of Phineas and Ferb.

The beloved animated series has returned for its fifth season 10 years after its original run concluded.

Ashley Tisdale has lent her voice to the titular stepbrothers’ older sister, Candace, for the show’s entire run.

“It’s obviously a dream to be a part of something for so long,” Tisdale told ABC Audio. “Playing Candace is always wild and a fun adventure.”

The original seasons of Phineas and Ferb were added to Disney+ in summer 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, a film centering on Candace premiered on the streaming service the same year, just as TikTok was rising in popularity. This caused a resurgence in the Phineas and Ferb fandom, which Tisdale noticed.

“I remember seeing Jimmy Fallon doing ‘Squirrels In My Pants,'” Tisdale said, referencing a song she performed as Candace in a 2009 episode that went viral. “That was kind of the moment where I [thought], ‘Oh wow, this feels like it’s coming back.'”

“I truly, I think in all of the things that I’ve done, owe so much to the fans,” Tisdale said. “Even with the High School Musical stuff, it was because of them. And for Phineas and Ferb to come back, it’s because of them. So I’m so grateful that they’ve loved these projects I’ve been in so much.”

Tisdale is looking forward to fans getting to see Candace try new things in the fifth season.

“There’s an episode where she goes to a therapist finally. And I think that’s just a genius idea. We all need to see that episode,” Tisdale said.

The first 10 episodes of Phineas and Ferb season 5 are available to stream on Disney+.

Report: ‘One of Them Days’ sequel with Keke Palmer and SZA is in early development

Photo by: Rosalind OConnor/NBC via Getty Images

A sequel to Issa Rae‘s One of Them Days is in the works. Variety reports Keke Palmer and SZA are expected to reunite with the film’s original creative team for part two of the movie.

SZA seemed to confirm the news in an Instagram Story, sharing a post of a woman strutting down the street with the caption, “me on my way to the auditions of one of them days 2.” She also wrote, “Imma read the script this time fr.”

One of Them Days was released in January and followed Keke’s Dreux and SZA’s Alyssa as they scrambled to find cash to avoid eviction after learning Alyssa’s boyfriend spent their rent money. The film also featured Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Katt Williams, Gabrielle Dennis, DomiNque Perry and Dewayne Perkins, who referred to his experience on the film as a “full-circle moment.”

Perkins told ABC Audio that Keke hosted the premiere of his movie The Blackening in 2023 and told him they had “to find something to work on together.”

“Then on the first day when I went on set for One of Them Days, we were like, ‘This is it, it’s happening.’ So it felt like a very cool, cool moment,” Perkins recalls. “And SZA was so, so chill and nice.”

“I really love when people who have a lot of fame, a lot of popularity, are normal, because some are not,” he says. “And I just love a pleasant person, like a pleasant experience. And that was just one of those experiences that was simply just pleasant. And I think it reflected on screen. That’s why it was so good.”

Marc Maron on playing Owen Wilson’s best friend in ‘Stick’

Apple

Owen Wilson is a former pro golfer in the new sports comedy Stick.

The series premiered Wednesday on Apple TV+. It stars Wilson as Pryce Cahill, a man who hedges his future on a 17-year-old golfer he thinks may just be the next big thing.

Podcaster and actor Marc Maron also stars as Pryce’s best friend, Mitts. Maron tells ABC Audio he hadn’t met Wilson before starring alongside him in the show.

“We’re kind of the same age and we’ve both been through some stuff,” Maron said. “We’re just very different types of people and I think that the characters are not that unlike us.”

He wasn’t worried if they would get along or not, he just hoped they could play believable best friends.

“The only thing that was not known was whether or not we were going to be—to feel—emotionally connected as a couple of guys that have known each other for decades,” Maron said.

After they shot their first scene together, Maron said, “It became pretty apparent that it just wasn’t gonna be a problem.”

“Picking up on each other’s rhythms for comedic purposes was, it was just sort of natural,” Maron said.

Even though he hadn’t met Wilson before, he knew his movies. Because of that, Maron said it felt like he did sort of know him before shooting, in his own way.

“Cause you know that guy,” Maron said. “If you watched his movies, you kind of know what you’re dealing with. And, you know, it just worked out. We got along well on screen and off.”
