Obituaries

Michael David Thornton, 52, of Stuart, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023. He was born March 25, 1971, in Martinsville, to David Michael Thornton and the late Yvonne Donovant Thornton.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his uncle, Marvin Thornton.

David was of the Baptist faith. He was a graduate of Fieldale-Collinsville High School, and was a member of Patrick Henry Lodge #82 Knights of Pythias.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Tatum Thornton; father, David Michael Thornton; sons, Shawn Michael Thornton and Brandon Christopher Thornton; sister, Nina Thornton Scott Lilly; aunts, Judy T. Stilwell and Linda Thornton Stanfield; and nephew, Alexander Hunter Scott.

A Celebration of Life Service will be on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Doug Ramsey officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.
