Obituaries

Scott Turner Prillaman, 56, of Collinsville, Virginia, died Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at his residence, of natural causes. He was born May 25, 1967, in Martinsville, Virginia, to Phyllis Aileen Turner Prillaman and the late Clyde Dillard Prillaman. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Jacob Prillaman; maternal grandparents, William H. Turner and Iva Turner; paternal grandparents, Harvie Prillaman and Glenwood Prillaman; his beloved Aunt Evelyn France; Uncle Douglas Prillaman, Uncle Berkley Whitlow, and Uncle Garfield France.

Scott was a 1985 graduate of Fieldale-Collinsville High School and held a four-year bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech in Finance. He partnered with his sister, Tracie Friddle, as the owner/operator of FC Tax Service for 32 years. Later, as enrolled agents, they purchased three H & R Block franchises together. Scott was an avid outdoorsman, an excellent cook and connoisseur of food and coffee; and enjoyed traveling to new places. Tybee Island, Georgia, the Outer Banks, North Carolina, and the mountains were among his favorites. Motorcycle rides in the mountains and at VIR Track Days were something he looked forward to.

Scott had a humble and grateful spirit. He loved life and country, and was a joy to know! An unassuming man, he was wise, thoughtful, and loyal. His humor was renowned and reflected both his zest for life and love for people. His family was his cornerstone in life.

Scott is survived by the love of his life, life partner Tracy Piestrak; her son, Daniel Piestrak; his mother, Phyllis Prillaman; brother, Michael Prillaman (Carol); sister, Tracie Friddle (Mark); nephew, Joe Prillaman (Michelle); niece, Michelle Kline (Evan); aunt, Betsy Whitlow; uncle, Joe Meadors (Iris); aunt, Dot Prillaman; aunt, Rebecca Prillaman; and cousins, Carol Lee Carter, David France, Monica Shively, Donna Fleming, and Denny Prillaman.

The funeral will be Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 12:00 PM, at First Baptist Church of Collinsville, 3339 Virginia Avenue, Collinsville, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
