School is back in session.

Abbott Elementary has been renewed for a sixth season at ABC.

The announcement was made in a post to ABC and Abbott Elementary‘s official Instagram accounts.

“Just got off the phone with Barbara, you might want to give her a call,” the post’s caption reads.

The post features a photo of teacher Barbara Howard, who is portrayed by Sheryl Lee Ralph on the sitcom, and a phone number fans can call. When called, the number takes you to a voicemail Ralph has made in character as Mrs. Howard.

“I am too busy celebrating the good news to come to the phone right now. In case you haven’t heard, Abbott Elementary will be back again for season 6 on ABC,” the voicemail says. “I cannot wait to get back to shaping the young minds and hearts of the future. Oh, and if this is Melissa calling: Girlfriend, I’m running late for our nail appointment because I was recording this message. Listen, try to save me a working massage chair.”

The Quinta Brunson-created series is currently airing its fifth season Wednesdays on ABC, streaming on Hulu the next day. Brunson, Ralph, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter and William Stanford Davis star in the sitcom.

Brunson took to Instagram to share the renewal announcement news.

“More @abbottelemabc coming your way :),” she captioned her post.

Westeros is getting a few new faces.

Lucy Boynton, Babou Ceesay and Peter Mullan have joined the season 2 cast of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

HBO made the announcement to its official Game of Thrones social media accounts on Wednesday.

“Every journey needs new companions,” the post’s caption reads.

Boynton will play Lady Rohanne, Ceesay takes on the role of Ser Bennis and Mullan will play Ser Eustace Osgrey.

The first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premiered on Jan. 18 and finished its run on Feb. 22. It consisted of six half-hour episodes about the adventures of an unexpected duo and is based on the novellas by George R.R. Martin.

“A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros … a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg,” according to the show’s official logline. “Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

The show takes place 72 years after House of the Dragon and 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg.

(SPOILER ALERT) Congratulations are in order for the second Bridgerton son, Benedict, and his bride, Sophie Baek.

The couple, portrayed by Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha, were married in an end credits scene after the final episode of Netflix’s Bridgerton season 4.

Benedict and Sophie returned to My Cottage for their nuptials, which was an intimate ceremony that included their family and closest friends. Ha spoke to ABC Audio about what it was like to bring such a special scene to life.

“It was so beautiful to go back to the My Cottage where we started [and] finish there,” Ha said.

She continued, saying “everyone that we hoped to be there” was in attendance, including Mr. and Mrs. Crabtree, (Billy Boyle and Susan Brown) the housekeepers at Benedict’s Wiltshire home, who helped nurture the beginnings of their relationship.

Ha said she developed quite a fondness for the dress Sophie wore on her wedding day. So much, in fact, she thought about incorporating it in her own future wedding.

“It was funny, because when you put on a wedding dress, you’re like, ‘I should put this on for my real life,'” Ha said.

While it was not an actual wedding, Ha said she forgot that fact while filming.

“It felt like a wedding,” Ha said, especially the part where she had “to walk down that aisle very slowly.”

Ha said the crew even got into the celebratory spirit on set that day.

“It felt like at that moment, it was a pure celebration of our story, our season, with everyone all there,” Ha said. “Even the crew were told to wear non-crew clothing and everyone actually dressed up like they were part of the wedding as well. It was a beautiful day.”

Step aside Chicago Fire and 9-1-1, there’s a new firefighter drama series on the way. Netflix has announced Tyler Perry’s Where There’s Smoke, his latest project as part of his going partnership with the streamer.

Where There’s Smoke will follow the personal and professional lives of a group of firefighters in 16 hourlong episodes, all of which Perry wrote, directed and produced. Helping to bring the story to life are stars Tyler Lepley, Da’Vinci, Mike Merrill, Eltony Williams, Brittany S. Hall, Brock O’Hurn and Karen Obilom, who have all worked on previous Tyler Perry projects, as well as real-life fire captain Joe Hunter, Mariah Goodie, Jordan Rodriguez and Judi Moon.

Angi Bones and Tony Strickland of Tyler Perry Studios also lend their hand, serving as producers for Where There’s Smoke, which has officially kicked off production in Atlanta.

In the meantime, part 2 of the second season of Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black is set to make its premiere on March 19.

Little House on the Prairie has been renewed for season 2 many months ahead of its first season premiere.

Netflix also announced the release date and official first look at the first season of the series. Season 1 will debut to the streamer on July 9.

This new adaptation transforms the beloved, semi-autobiographical books written by Laura Ingalls Wilder into a show that is “part family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West,” according to Netflix. It will offer “a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier.”

Rebecca Sonnenshine serves as showrunner and executive producer on the new series.

“I’m incredibly grateful to our wonderful cast and crew, who put their hearts and hard work into making our first season come alive,” Sonnenshine says in a press release. “We can’t wait to share this new adaptation of the Little House books with the world, and we’re thrilled that Netflix is giving us the opportunity to continue the story.”

Alice Halsey will star as Laura Ingalls in the show. Also starring are Luke Bracey as patriarch Charles Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald as loving mother Caroline Ingalls and Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls, the older sister and polar opposite to sister Laura.

Netflix’s vice president of drama series, Jinny Howe, says the streamer is “delighted to renew this beautiful reimagining of Little House on the Prairie for a second season ahead of its Netflix debut.”

She continues, “The exceptional work by Rebecca Sonnenshine and the entire cast and crew on season 1 has established a rich foundation of storytelling for years to come. With its hopeful spirit and emotional authenticity, we’re confident that Little House will deliver even more of what fans truly love.”

The creator of the God of War video game is making his thoughts on the upcoming TV series adaptation known.

David Jaffe, who is the game designer and director of the Playstation video game franchise, recently shared a YouTube video criticizing the first-look photo Prime Video released of its new series adaptation of God of War.

Jaffe said the photo, which features protagonist Kratos, as played by Ryan Hurst, in the woods with his son, Atreus, played by Callum Vinson, is “so bad in so many ways.”

“I’m sure everybody’s trying real hard,” Jaffe said, before laughing and saying, “It’s so dumb.”

Jaffe continued, saying that although he does not like the first-look photo of the series, he believes in the talent involved in creating the show.

“But let’s be incredibly clear, OK? Two things can be true. This can be a terrible image, and it is. It is so bad in so many ways,” Jaffe said. “And Ron Moore is awesome, who is the showrunner … This guy is a juggernaut of a talented fellow. I have absolutely no doubt it is going to be a good show.”

The God of War creator then went on to say that he does not mind that Hurst does not exactly resemble the video game version of Kratos, but instead, he takes issue with the expression and pose he uses in the photo.

“Kratos in this pose with this expression, not the guy’s face, but this expression, he just looks stupid,” Jaffe said. “If you’re going to reveal, to most people, a brand new character that you hope is going to carry your series, for the first time, and they’ve never really seen this before, and this is the way you introduce them?”

God of War has already received a two-season order from Prime Video.

The West Coast premiere of Boots Riley’s new movie, I Love Boosters, will take place in Oakland, California, as part of the 69th San Francisco International Film Festival in April. The new project has been named the Centerpiece film for this year’s festival, used to showcase culturally significant films.

Held at Oakland’s historic Grand Lake Theatre, the first screening is set for April 28 at 6:30 p.m. PT, followed by a moderated conversation. A second screening will begin at 9:30 p.m. PT after a moderated introduction. Tickets are currently available to SFFILM members, but will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday. 

“I’m hyped as hell to bring I Love Boosters to SFFILM since they were the first organization to recognize me as a filmmaker and to support me in my filmmaking journey,” Boots Riley said in statement. “It’s going to be extra special to premiere in my hometown at Grand Lake Theater [where] I’ve been going to since I was a kid. This film is my best work and it’s going to be special to see this movie, which is set in the Bay Area, play here.”

The movie will premiere March 12 during opening night of the 2026 SXSW Film & TV Festival. It’s about a crew of professional shoplifters who choose a cutthroat fashion maven as their next target. Keke Palmer, LaKeith Stanfield, Don Cheadle and more star in the film.

HBO’s newest miniseries finds Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini and David Harbour in a love triangle gone wrong.

DTF: St. Louis, which premiered its first episode on Sunday, finds three adults who have middle-age malaise stuck in a love triangle that leads to one of them dying.

At the end of the premiere, viewers discover that person is Harbour’s Floyd Smernitch. Even though he meets his demise, the rest of the season takes place over a nonlinear timeline and Harbour continues as a main character throughout it all. He told ABC Audio all about what it was like to work with Bateman and Cardellini on the new dark comedy.

“These are two actors that I’ve admired for years and years, and I got to do some of the best scenes of my whole career, some of the most intimate work I’ve ever done, with these people,” Harbour said. “The scripts were very unexpected — the twists and turns, the way people react to things, who these people are. Floyd is a character that I deeply love. I find him just tragic and wonderful and weird and beautiful. And so it was just like a joy every day to come to work.”

Floyd works as an American Sign Language interpreter. Harbour said he had to learn how to sign ASL for the role.

“It’s hard, especially because you want to do it justice, because it’s its own … language, it’s own form of expression [and] it’s so deeply intrinsic to who Floyd is as a person.”

As the season continues, Harbour says viewers will discover why ASL is so important to Floyd.

“There is this moment when you really understand what ASL means to Floyd,” Harbour said. “And so, in that way, you can see that it’s something that I had to really invest in.”
