Netflix’s smash Wednesday is getting a doll makeover, with Mattel paying tribute to Jenna Ortega‘s title character and her spooky friends at Nevermore Academy.
The Wednesday Addams Collection not only includes toys from its younger-skewing Little People line from Fisher Price, but also new dolls in its Monster High collection of Wednesday and Emma Myers‘ Enid.
“Inspired by the characters from the show, these ghoulishly gorgeous dolls and miniaturized figurines will have fans channeling their inner macabre as they listen to ‘Goo Goo Muck’ while playing out adventures and recreating favorite scenes from the iconic TV series,” the ad copy reads.
The second season of Wednesday will debut on Netflix in 2025.
Weeks after her bestie Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, Leah Reminihas announced she’s split with her husband of 21 years, Angelo Pagán.
The former King of Queens star and Pagán jointly posted to Instagram on Thursday, “After 28 years together and 21 years of marriage, we have decided to file for divorce.”
“This decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it’s what’s best for us,” the statement continued.
The note goes on to say, “Yes, we’re sad, and we’ve got some figuring out to do as we continue to move forward into our new normal — together still in many ways, and apart in some new ones.”
It added, “But here’s the thing: we’ve been best friends for so many years. We are still celebrating holidays together, watching our favorite tv shows together, and gathering as a family.”
As to the reason behind the split, the statement explained, “To put it simply, we both changed, as people do, and we got used to playing roles that didn’t fit us anymore.” They added, “Our bond is still strong — it’s just evolved into something different.”
The pair share an “incredible daughter” in 20-year-old Sofia, noting, “From our perspective, this marriage was a huge success.”
The couple said they want to be “as transparent as possible” with their new direction, “because, for years, we shared our marriage so publicly, whether it was on our specials on VH1 or our reality show,” referencing Leah Remini: It’s All Relative.
They also said of their “new chapter” together, apart, “We hope our journey can inspire others to see that relationships — whether they change or end — aren’t failures.”
The review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes has changed its ratings system.
Where formerly there was a Critics Score, based on an average of what professional reviewers had to say about a movie or TV show, as well as an Audience Score, there will now be a “Verified Hot” designation used instead of the latter.
A moviegoer’s review will only count if it can be verified that they bought a ticket to the particular movie — for now, only via its affiliate Fandango.
That said, the “Verified Hot” designation could also be used to show how audiences are reacting to so-called “critic proof” movies — that is, flicks audiences love but professional reviewers might not, like the Fast and Furious films.
The system could also combat so-called “review bombing” — that is, people trashing films they haven’t seen.
“On Rotten Tomatoes, fans love to consult our verified audience score, in addition to the Tomatometer critics’ score, when discovering new movies and deciding what they want to watch next,” said Amanda Norvell, SVP of direct-to-consumer services at Fandango.
She continues, “With the addition of Verified Hot, we are excited to celebrate and shine a spotlight on the theatrical films that fans have unanimously embraced and have taken the time to share their incredible moviegoing experience with other fans.”
Rotten Tomatoes also announced that the summer hits Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Deadpool & Wolverine, Fly Me to the Moon, Inside Out 2, Twisters and It Ends with Us are the first films to get the new designation.
Additionally, the company is retroactively adding the badge to more than 200 films going back to May 2019.
Saturday Night Live Weekend Update co-anchor Colin Jost has been tapped to host Amazon Prime’s Pop Culture Jeopardy!, set to begin production in August.
Similar to traditional Jeopardy!, the spin-off, billed as “the first Jeopardy! series created exclusively for a major streaming service,” will employ an answer-question format, but with a focus on categories such as music, film, TV, stage and sports, according to Variety. Additionally, contestants will play in teams of three in a tournament-style event.
“What is: I’m excited,” Jost quipped in response to the announcement in a statement obtained by the outlet.
Jost joined SNL back in 2005 and has co-anchored the sketch show’s Weekend Update segment since 2014. He’s also appeared in the films How to Be Single, Coming 2 America and Tom and Jerry.
