Penn Badgley is back in NYC for fifth and final season of Netflix’s ‘You’
In a new social media post, Netflix tells fans that You‘s Joe Goldberg is back on the prowl in New York City.
To a photo of Joe’s alter-ego Penn Badgley — now clean shaven — on the streets of the Big Apple, the streamer notes, “Back to where it all began,” signaling the start of production on the fifth and final season of the serial killer series.
Deadline reports Baby Reindeer star and Emmy nominee Nava Mau has joined the cast this season in a guest starring role, playing Detective Marquez.
The fourth season of the show, which dropped in February of 2023 segued the action to London, where Badgley’s Joe comes to realize the so-called Eat The Rich Killer who has been murdering the well-heeled, is actually (spoiler alert) him.
There’s no official release date for the fifth and final season.
Weeks after her bestie Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, Leah Reminihas announced she’s split with her husband of 21 years, Angelo Pagán.
The former King of Queens star and Pagán jointly posted to Instagram on Thursday, “After 28 years together and 21 years of marriage, we have decided to file for divorce.”
“This decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it’s what’s best for us,” the statement continued.
The note goes on to say, “Yes, we’re sad, and we’ve got some figuring out to do as we continue to move forward into our new normal — together still in many ways, and apart in some new ones.”
It added, “But here’s the thing: we’ve been best friends for so many years. We are still celebrating holidays together, watching our favorite tv shows together, and gathering as a family.”
As to the reason behind the split, the statement explained, “To put it simply, we both changed, as people do, and we got used to playing roles that didn’t fit us anymore.” They added, “Our bond is still strong — it’s just evolved into something different.”
The pair share an “incredible daughter” in 20-year-old Sofia, noting, “From our perspective, this marriage was a huge success.”
The couple said they want to be “as transparent as possible” with their new direction, “because, for years, we shared our marriage so publicly, whether it was on our specials on VH1 or our reality show,” referencing Leah Remini: It’s All Relative.
They also said of their “new chapter” together, apart, “We hope our journey can inspire others to see that relationships — whether they change or end — aren’t failures.”
“War has come to Middle-Earth” are the first words spoken in the trailer to the second season of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and the sneak peek that follows bears out the warning.
The streaming service teases, “This season features the long-awaited Siege of Eregion, a definitive battle in J.R.R. Tolkien‘s history of the Second Age of Middle-earth, from which not everyone makes it out alive. The banners are raised, and the devastating war against Sauron is just beginning.”
The siege is teased as a massive battle, complete with catapults, cave trolls and masses of orc warriors doing battle with the forces of good. “Eregion must not fall,” Robert Aramayo‘s elf Elrond warns. “It would be a blow for all of Middle-Earth.”
Charlie Vickers plays the cunning dark lord to be in Amazon’s series, and while he was cast out by Morfydd Clark‘s Galadriel in the first season, he “must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power,” Prime Video continues.
Sauron created 19 rings and distributed them to the various races of Middle-Earth as a means to bring them under the power of his One Ring. The trailer shows them already working their dark magic on the bearers.
The streaming service continues, “Friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture” and “the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all … each other.”
The first three second-season episodes of The Rings of Power will premiere Aug. 29; new episodes stream each week until the season finale on Oct. 3.
Eugene and Dan Levy may never have hosted an awards show together, but the Schitt’s Creek stars’ stint onstage on ABC Sunday night delivered numbers not seen since 2021.
The telecast broke a streak of all-time low ratings earned by the last two broadcasts, according to numbers confirmed by ABC Audio.
The Levys — but more importantly the coronation of two already-popular shows The Bear and Shōgun — boosted the viewership by more than 54% from the last one, which was held in January on Fox, to nearly 7 million people.
That January telecast, the strike-delayed 75th annual Emmys, drew just 4.3 million people.
ABC points out that the 2021 telecast, which was held on CBS, also benefitted from an NFL game lead-in, which Sunday night’s telecast didn’t have.
