Jamie Foxx‘s return to comedy was captured by Netflix and will be released via an upcoming special named after those shows.

What Had Happened Was… will find Jamie opening up about the medical scare that left him hospitalized for months in 2023.

“I said, ‘If I can stay funny, I could stay alive’ … I’m back,” Foxx says in the teaser for the special. What Had Happened Was… is set to premiere on Dec. 10.

In April 2023, Jamie’s daughter, Corinne, revealed he’d experienced a “medical complication” and was hospitalized in Atlanta. Rumors about the severity of his condition spread as celebrity friends and fans kept his name in prayer. He’s since given some insight into how bad things had gotten, sharing that at one point he couldn’t walk or remember anything that happened.

Nearly 20 years after his last stand-up show, Jamie announced he’d be taking the stage to tell his story with What Had Happened Was…, a one-man, three-night run in Atlanta that took place in October. Following the event, he shared photos on social media, thanking the city for showing up and supporting him.

“I haven’t been on stage in 18 years but I needed the stage and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love and that’s what you were,” he wrote. “When people ask me is this a stand up comedy show I say no it’s an artistic explanation. Of some thing that went terribly wrong, but thanks to the great people in Atlanta especially piedmont hospital you enabled me to come back and be on stage and do what I love to do the most.”

Another box office hit is getting the stage treatment.

Producer Ken Davenport announced Friday he’s developing Slumdog Millionaire, the Oscar-winning film that proved to be a breakout role for Dev Patel, into a musical with help from the film’s composer, A.R. Rahman.

Slumdog Millionaire is based on the Indian novel Q&A, and followed Patel’s Jamal and his brother as they struggled to survive on the streets of Mumbai. The movie also starred Freida Pinto as Jamal’s love interest in her first major film role.

In announcing the new production, Davenport said he was inspired to bring the story to the stage as a way to honor his father, who grew up in India.

“My father … never talked much about growing up in India, until I took him to see Slumdog Millionaire. Immediately after the credits rolled, the stories, the love, and the pride of where he was from poured out of him,” he said. “Right then and there, I vowed to one day find a way to bring our Indian culture to the stage, as a way to honor him, and people of Indian descent all over the world.”

The stage production will reportedly feature new music, as well as the film’s famous “Jai Ho,” for which Rahman won a Best Original Song Oscar.

The English-language single “Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny),” sung by Rahman and The Pussycat Dolls, became a top-20 Billboard hit in the U.S.

More details about Slumdog Millionaire: The Musical will be announced in the coming months.

Heidi Klum once again pulled out all the stops for her highly anticipated annual Halloween party, showing up as E.T. in a costume that has everyone talking.

The supermodel and TV host keeps her fans on their toes and eagerly awaiting her big costume reveal each year. This year, she took her signature extravagance to new heights with her nostalgic ’80s costume, a choice that underscores her reputation as the “Queen of Halloween.”

“HEIDI HALLOWEEN 2024 OUT OF THIS WORLD,” Klum shared in a post on Instagram Thursday night, showcasing the big reveal of her costume inspired by the hit 1982 film, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

Her look stands out as one of the night’s highlights, with makeup elements and eye-catching details that look like they came straight out of Steven Spielberg‘s iconic film.

Klum’s party is always the season’s must-attend event, drawing celebrities in their best Halloween attire.

This isn’t Klum’s first time making a splash at her annual bash. Known for her elaborate, jaw-dropping costumes, the model has turned Halloween into her personal runway, transforming into otherworldly creatures and larger-than-life characters, such as a peacock and a giant worm in past years.

She’s also donned costumes such as Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, as well as the werewolf from Michael Jackson‘s “Thriller” music video.

A reboot of the 1993 action film Cliffhanger is currently in production, but without its original star, Sylvester Stallone, as previously announced, according to Variety. The remake stars Pierce Brosnan as mountaineer Ray Cooper, who operates a luxury chalet in the Dolomites with daughter Sydney. During a weekend trip with a billionaire’s son, they are victims of a kidnapping, witnessed by Ray’s daughter Naomi — played by Lily James — who is still haunted by a past climbing accident and must confront her fears and fight for survival, per the outlet. BET has given a fifth season pickup to its hit comedy series The Ms. Pat Show, along with an overall deal extension to Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams, according to Deadline. The series is based on the stand-up comedian and her memoir, Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat. Williams. She plays a fictionalized character of herself, a former convicted felon turned suburban mom who hustles and bustles to make it on the streets of Atlanta. Deadline reports Orange Is the New Black‘s Uzo Aduba and Juno Temple have been added to the cast of the true-life heist film Roofman, joining previously announced stars Channing Tatum, Kirsten Dunst and Peter Dinklage. Tatum plays Jeffrey Manchester, a former U.S. Army Reserve officer convicted of robbing McDonald’s locations across the country, earning the moniker “Rooftop Robber” or “Roofman,” per the outlet. Netflix has unveiled a new teaser trailer for Squid Game season 2, in which season 1 winner Seong Gi-hun aka Player 456, played by Lee Jung-jae, is back for round two.

“Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the States and comes back with a new resolution in his mind,” according to the official season 2 synopsis. “Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won.”

Lee and co-star Wi Ha-joon were on hand, along with series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, at the European comic-con Lucca Comics & Games to unveil the clip, which finds Player 456 reentering the games three years after his victory, but with a different purpose.

Armed with the knowledge he gained the first time around, the trailer finds Gi-hun attempting to convince a new group of players vying for the prize to opt out of the game “before they kill us all.”

Lee Byung-hun also returns for season 2 as the mysterious Front Man in charge of running the game.

Squid Game season 2 launches Dec. 26 on Netflix.

Jennifer Garner delighted fans this Halloween by stepping back into the shoes of one of her most beloved characters.

The actress took to Instagram on Wednesday to reveal her costume as Jenna Rink from 13 Going on 30.

During the fun clip, she’s seen wearing her now-iconic, brightly colored butterfly dress — instantly transporting fans back to 2004.

With her wide smile and unmistakable charm, Garner perfectly embodies her “30, flirty and thriving” character, reminding fans of the lighthearted, magical spirit of the romantic comedy that remains a cult favorite nearly two decades later.

The nostalgic dress choice isn’t just a treat for fans of the film, but also marks a sentimental throwback for Garner.

Originally worn in 13 Going on 30, the dress became a symbol of Jenna’s journey — a 13-year-old girl thrust into her 30s, navigating love, friendship and career with an innocent, wide-eyed wonder.

Garner’s Halloween transformation instantly captivated social media, where fans flooded her comments with memories of watching 13 Going on 30 for the first time. Many noted how timeless the look was and praised the actress for choosing a costume that resonated with so many generations.

Regina Hall is taking her production skills to the next level. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress teamed with MGM Alternative of Amazon MGM Studios to develop and produce true crime shows, docuseries and game shows, starting with a Girls Trip-inspired competition called Squad Games.

Squad Games, the outlet explains, will feature “celebrities and their real-life BFFs on an exotic getaway where they compete in wild challenges.”

“I’m so excited for this new partnership with MGM. I’m positive that the relationship between Rh Negative and their team will be an incredibly supportive and productive one and I’m thrilled about what we have in the works,” Regina says in a statement.

“Ever since we saw Regina Hall co-hosting the Academy Awards two years ago, we knew she had something special that would resonate with reality fans,” adds Barry Poznick, MGM Alternative’s general manager. “Her humor, honesty, creativity and style of storytelling make her a perfect partner as we continue to expand MGM Alternative’s slate of premium unscripted programming.”

Squad Games will mark Regina’s debut in unscripted series. Previous production credits include feature film Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul and Black Monday on Showtime. Regina also served as executive producer for the psychological thriller Master.

With a new Emmy trophy under its sporran, the reality series phenomenon The Traitors is returning to Peacock for a third season on Jan. 9. 

Host Alan Cumming returns to lead a new all-star cast for the third go-round, which will pit 21 new players against each other in a remote castle deep in the Scottish Highlands, with a grand prize of $250,000 at stake. 

The contestants are divided into two groups: the Faithful and the Traitors, the latter of whom are secretly selected with the mission of “murdering” each Hopeful one by one under the cover of darkness and claiming the prize for themselves.

“[B]ut if the Faithful can banish all the Traitors before the end of the game, they’ll split the incredible prize,” the producers tease.

Jude Law got to step into that galaxy far, far away with his lead role in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which debuts Dec. 3 on Disney+. 

For a fan, it left him “giddy,” he tells Variety. 

Jon Watts, who called the shots on Tom Holland‘s three standalone Spider-Man movies, created the show, which centers on four children “looking for their home planet after getting lost in the Star Wars galaxy,” the synopsis says.

Law tells the trade, “I don’t think I would have dived in willy-nilly. I wanted it to be right. I didn’t want to be the guy that dropped the ball on Star Wars.”

He says of the production, “It was a really interesting process. It’s technically complicated to get those things right — you’re dealing with animatronics and puppets and machines and huge, complicated worlds.” 

Law adds, “I’m the guy that wants to see how the wizard does it.” To that end, he talks about the “Star Wars filter” — the particularities common to the franchise. “Like, there are no buttons [on costumes] in Star Wars — only ties. Buckles? Yes. Velcro? Yes. Although, I don’t think you ever see the Velcro.”

He adds, “There are certain shots they don’t allow you to do if you’re the director. You can’t pass through the glass of the spaceship; you have to stay on the outside or inside. I love that. You see the shot and go, ‘Oh, I’m in Star Wars.'”

However, despite a scene in the trailer that shows him sending a key floating across the room, Law hedges when asked what it’s like to have the Force. “Who says I’ve got the Force?” he tells Variety with a laugh.

Saturday Night Live has revealed the first hosts for November.

SNL announced that comedian and Mandalorian star Bill Burr will host the sketch show for the second time on Nov. 9, in what will be the first live show following the presidential election. Mk.gee will be the musical guest.  

On Nov. 16, Charli XCX will serve as both host and musical guest — her third appearance in the latter category, but first as host. 

As reported, Nov. 1’s installment of SNL will see a returning John Mulaney taking the stage at Studio 8H, with musical guest Chappell Roan.
